5 Axis CNC machining can complete high complex 3D parts, so a large 5 axis CNC router like this one here is an ideal automotive rapid prototyping tool. The five axes are the X Y Z axis plus A-axis and C-axis; A axis can swing ±120° around the X-axis; C axis can turn ±360° around the Z-axis.

A cnc router machine with RTCP capacity is a true 5 axis cnc router; otherwise, it is a fake 5-axis. All EagleTec 5 axis cnc machine has the RTCP option.
RTCP is short for Rotated Tool Center Point; the function is to ensure that the actual contact point between the tooltip and the workpiece surface remains unchanged. With RTCP, the control system keeps the tool center always in the programmed coordinate. In this case, programming is independent and without regard to machine motion. When do 5-axis cnc programming, you don't have to worry about machine movement and tool length. All you need to consider is only the relative motion between the tool and the workpiece. Then, let the system handle the rest for you.
Without RTCP, the 5-axis cnc machining programming will be much more complicated, as we have to consider more factors, such as the motion of the axis and the length of the tool; and make compensation accordingly during the programming process. For the same job, if the machine changed or the tool changed, programming must be made again. As you can imagine, this will waste a lot of time on programming, and the mismachining tolerance will be correspondingly larger, and the accuracy will be poor.
